If you don’t have a Will:-
Your Estate may go to those you least wish to benefit.
Your Estate may be subject to taxation which could have been avoided.
Your family may be left in financial difficulties.
Your common law partner may be hard hit.
Your children may suffer from inadequate provisions for their future.
By making a Will:-
You decide who benefits after your death.
You will protect your family.
You will decide who will take charge of your affairs after your death.
You can appoint a guardian to care for your children.
The consequences of not making a Will or having a wrongly drafted Will can be catastrophic.
A Will drawn up by Hoben Johnson will go a long way to avoid this and the cost of making a Will is surprisingly low when you consider what could be at stake.

If you do have a Will it is advisable for you to make arrangements to have this reviewed every 5 years to allow for any change in your circumstances, in particular any of the following:-
- Marriage
- Divorce
- Separation
- Death of a person named in a Will
- As your assets change
- A change in your circumstances
You can make minor alterations to your Will without the necessity of drafting a new Will by using a document called a Codicil. A Codicil confirms the contents of your Will but makes a few minor changes. If only a small number of changes are required this is a simple alternative to rewriting your Will. By using a Codicil any details in a Will can be changed. Gifts can be revoked, executors can be changed and new gifts can be added.
If we can assist in any of the above please contact us.
